I’ve continued to track this move on the EUR/USD and believe it may be setting up for a good “sell on rally” type opportunity here in this retracement phase. For those who missed the short trade I entered around 1.3750 last Sunday/Monday, it looks like the next key area to sell EUR/USD is the 1.3280 to 1.3380 range, but possibly as high as 1.3470. This bounce is very likely to be a retracement, not a reversal, so a rally retracing somewhere between 38 to 50% of the sell off from Nov 22nd is the likely target; however, sometimes the EUR/USD finds a way to manage 61.8%.

Hey folks,

As far as the medium term is concerned on EUR/USD I see potential in both directions for various reasons, but it looks as though my early forecast of the EUR/USD rally sputtering out and turning south has potential. I’m going to refrain from commenting more on the current USD for today though and just focus on the two big upcoming news reports:

Hey folks,

Until this evening’s Asian session, this week had been characterized by rangebound trading largely due to central bank commentary. Specifically, the Fed’s Lacker (a noted hawk) gave some commentary on the potentail QE2 and gave further credibility to the idea that it’s well in the works. Couple that with some USD weakening commentary out of Singapore’s central bank, and we got the fuel for the big USD weakening breakout that’s underway… here’s my take on it:

Hey folks,

Not a lot of price action Monday as there was a market holiday in the US. The action should start heating up today though. If EUR/GBP trades lower through 0.8690-0.8710, and/or EUR/USD works lower through 1.3800-1.3833, that should set us up for a multi-day if not multi-week decline on EUR/USD.

Hey folks,

In news Friday, CAD employment came out barely hitting our buy USD/CAD triggers, and while we did rally 40 pip initially, the move had trouble sustaining because of a slight conflict with their Unemployment Rate (came out a bit better than expected versus a worse employment figure). Also, the strong anticipation of US NFP also hindered the pair in making a larger move.

With Employment figures set to dominate the price action today, I’m going to hold off on my typical overview of currency trends.

In news Thursday, the BoE did not make any move towards additional QE, and the GBP/USD launched 60-80 pips higher until toppish/reversing price action on EUR/USD helped pull it back down. In news Friday:
