Sean Joins TradeProfits Forex Signals
Posted on 13. Jan, 2010 by Jakob in Forex Signals, How To, Interviews, Random Noise
As I mentioned some time ago, I have been planning on bringing in a couple of guys to help me post forex signals. Today I am finally able to announce that one of my close friends, Sean will start posting forex signals for TradeProfits. In the beginning he will take the same approach as I have done, by posting the trades through twitter. Sean has a better educational background from a financial perspective than I do, and I am sure he can contribute with some winning trades. In order to give you guys a better understanding of Sean and his approach to forex trading, I made a short interview with him, posted below. All the trades Sean will enter will be posted in real time on twitter and the results will be posted here in TradeProfits (Trades (Sean)). Follow Sean on Twitter here. Be sure to subscribe to our newsletter and get more information about upcoming changes to our signals.
Welcome Sean. First of all, I would like to thank you for helping us out, and taking your time to be a part of TradeProfits.
My pleasure. I think this is going to be a lot of fun! It is the first time I publish my trades online, so it is going to be a challenge for me to try and explain what I do. But I think it is going to be a great experience, and hopeful it will lead to some good trades.
Can you tell us a little about your background?
I am 27, I live in London, I have completed a Masters in Finance, and I have worked in the financial industry for four years. I am currently trading part time in and around my other obligations. I use VBA and MQL4-programming to simulate and back-test different strategies, but I don’t base my trading on mechanical trading rules.
How long have you been interested in, and trading the forex market?
I have been interested in the investment world for about as long as I can remember. I caught on to forex trading during my first years at university. I opened my first spread betting account back in 2004, and I have been hooked since then.
What trading style do you prefer?
I started out as a day trader, scalping news stories. But currently I would characterize my style as swing trading. I have got a very experimental trading style. One of my biggest investment sins in the past has probably been focusing on too many markets and strategies at the same time, so I try and stay focused, although it is pretty hard.
Which kind of signals can we expect from you? (Risk:Reward size, around news, scalp, swing etc.?)
As indicated I am a somewhat slow trader, so you should expect most of my traders to be open for several days/weeks (at least if they are winners :-) The Risk:Reward ratio depends on the trade, but usually somewhere in the range between 1:2 and 1:3. I very rarely scalp news events, unless I have a very strong conviction. But I do use news stories as an integral part of my trading framework.
What will you base your trades on – Fundamental or technical analysis or a combination?
A combination. I think fundamental and technical analysis are complementary tools, so I cannot really afford to ignore either. For me trading is a game of probabilities, the more insights you have, the better are your odds of succeeding over the long term.
Any thoughts on how often you will send signals?
I don’t strive to make a certain number of trades per week/month. I only trade when I really believe in the setup. Most likely I am going to average less than ten trades a month.
Any guarantees?
Nope, I can’t give you any guarantees, except that I am giving it my best shot.
I look forward to seeing some trades, and once again, thank you for taking your time. Follow Sean on Twitter here, and free real time trade alerts.
