Reviewing the Non-Farm Payroll Webinar from TradingMetro
Posted on 06. Apr, 2009 by admin in Review
As I wrote a few days ago, I had signed up for the TradingMetro webinar for the Non-Farm Payroll last Friday April 3rd. Everything started out well, half an hour before the actual news. I logged in, and this guy who was going to take us through the event, started off, explaining some fundamental aspects, in order to give us a better understanding of the current market. This was interesting, and well explained. As we got closer to the news release, things started going downhill. Three minutes before the numbers was to be released, the guy from TradingMetro (whose name I forgot), apparently lost his entire internet connection. So this other guy from TradingMetro started speaking, telling us, what was happening. Of course, the second guy was really unprepared for this (which is understandable), hence he did not give much valuable information throughout the remaining part of the event. Apparently he didn’t have any news feed, so we got the actual numbers from another person who was attending the webinar, a few minutes after they were released. We were mostly told to simply stay out of the market, which, in my mind was a good call, since many pairs was just whipsawing up and down for a long time. However the entire thing was rather disappointing and I feel really bad for TradingMetro, as they have just started their page a few days ago, and this was probably not the best way to start off. However, it seems typical that losing an internet connection should happen around Non-Farm Payroll release. I mean, everything else seems to slow down around this release, Oanda is always acting weird, forexfactory is inaccessible due to too many people trying to reach the page, charts are exploding, chat rooms are booming with messages faster than it is possible for you to scroll the mouse up and down, etc.
Overall, the webinar was not very successful, but there is a good and valid reason behind it. The first part of the webinar was interesting, and I am sure that if everything had played out the way it should, it would have been a success. If TradingMetro is running the same event next month, I will definitely give them a second chance. Now if any of you guys was at the Fxstreet webinar, please share your thoughts on this.

Great post, and appreciate the feedback.
Harold Fretheim is the Trading Coach that was conducting the session and he’s got a great fundamental understanding. Sometimes we have one or two of our other coaches join him, but I can understand the disappointment.
How I look at it is that we have to constantly improve these things. I’ve been in the industry long enough where we have to listen and respond. But most importantly we’re trying to stay ahead of the curve with how we present things.
You’ve started something great here – and hopefully it isn’t just one person because it does get to be weighty to take care of after awhile, but it’s the energy and feedback from folks like you that will make up the future of Trading Metro.
We’re focused on being a Solutions Destination for traders – meaning we’re partnering with some of the best solutions providers in the industry – helping to take payment for and deliver their services.
We’re also developing a resources section that will increase in material over the course of time.
Anyway, I didn’t want to leave a sales job on you, but wanted to share some of my thoughts. Should I just call you admin? ;)
Cheers – Sam

Hi Sam,
Thankyou for clarifying. At the moment this blog is a one-man project but I am looking to bring other people into this. This is also the reason, why I have not finished (not even started) the about page, contact, etc. But no, my name is Jakob. I am a student, living in the top of Europe, in Denmark. I really appriciated the feedback. I was just visiting TradingMetro a few minutes ago, and I see that the next NFP event is planned :) I will be there.
