Performance test of Expert Adviser’s
Posted on 24. Apr, 2009 by Jakob in Random Noise
I have just paid a short visit to the performance test page, over at FPA. The performance test page is basically a subpage to FPA, where they show the result from different EA’s which have been forward tested. The results are very mixed. They are currently testing 14 different robots, including the well known FAP turbo, and the new Forex MegaDroid, which I wrote about here. I believe the choice of these 14 different robots is based on user suggestion, as I have received a couple of email, where I was asked which EA’s I would like to see tested. So if you have any preferences as to what you would like FPA to test, I guess you should simply throw them an email. Needless to say that I find this to be a very good alternative to actually buying them! Sales letters are one thing, reality is a different one, especially is this industry! Another positive aspect of these test are, that even if you buy it, you most likely won’t keep it running 24 hours a day, just to test it trading paper money. FAP will (If I understood them correct). When you have seen sufficient forward and feel convinced, then buying it might become an option. I am looking to do some EA testing as well, and post the results here at TradeProfits. More on this later. Let’s have a look at the results from FPA’s performance test.
As mentioned above, they are currently testing 14 different EA’s. Two of them are yet to make the first trade, so no results here. This brings us down to 12, where 6 of these are profitable and the other half are unprofitable. Now some of these have only been running for a short time, so I should probably wait a few weeks before making any judgments. But I just have to comment on the link between the statements on the sales pages, and the actual results. The EA which has shown the worst results is The Forex Maestro. This EA has been running for six weeks, and currently it is down by 8.56%! I sure see some kind of paradox in the fact that people have to $200 to get this thing, and afterwards it starts blowing up your account. As usual, they seem to slightly overestimate the power of own EA.
“That Anyone Can Use To (automatically) Explode Your Trading Account to as Much As $2,000,000 By This Time Next Year!”
Wow! That sure is one lame promise! I am always amused that they tend to write results in actual amounts, instead of %. The actual amount obviously depends on the individuals account size. I could keep going. There is enough bullshit reading for the rest of the day. In the bottom you will find the typical earnings disclaimer telling you that none of the above stated results is a guarantee of future results. No shit! 2. ooo.ooo seems a bit farfetched, considering the actual result of -8% so far! Forex MegaDroid is one of the newest EA’s, which has been heavily hyped by affiliates. However, as you will see from the test page, this EA has not been doing too well, as it currently shows a loss of 0.19%.
However, as mentioned above, 6 out of the 14 EA’s are showing positive results. One of them is the FAP Turbo. There has been a lot of activity around this EA, and this might actually be worth a shot. The only downside to FAP Turbo is that the trades are placed in the Asian session, which is when I am asleep, and I am not a huge fan of having my laptop running all night. So far FAP Turbo has returned 3.12% according to the performance test at FPA. The best performing EA is Forex Boomerang which has been running for 2.4 weeks and so far has generated a return of 8.31%. This is rather impressive, but the timeframe for which it has been tested is too short to make any final decision yet. If any of you guys have tried any of these EA’s, please share your experience with them. I will start doing some EA reviews in a near future, so if you have any suggestions for specific ones, you would like tested, let me know.
